What Curio knows, and where it goes
A plain-language notice — not legal boilerplate.
If something here changes, this page changes with it; it's meant to stay true, not just polished.
What we collect
- Conversations — what you type or say to Curio, so she can remember context across turns and days.
- Calendar — read and write access via your own Google sign-in, so she can ground answers in your real schedule and act on your behalf (creating or updating events).
- Email — a dedicated Curio-owned address your household forwards relevant mail to (confirmations, provider replies). We never access a family member's personal inbox.
- Photos and journal entries — what you share with her for the journal and travelogue features.
- Face data — if you register a family member's face, so Curio can recognise who's talking to her across devices. You're asked before this happens, and you can remove it anytime.
- Location — when a feature needs it (maps, nearby-places, travel mode), not tracked continuously in the background.
- Shopping and browsing activity — only while you're actively using the in-app shopping feature.
- Call transcripts — when you ask Curio to place a call on your behalf (e.g. rescheduling an appointment), so she can report back what was said.
Why
To do the things you actually ask her to do: remember your household, coordinate schedules, keep a photo journal, place a call, order groceries, find your way somewhere. Nothing here is collected for advertising, and nothing is sold.
Where it goes
- Stored under your household's own data, backed up daily for disaster recovery, kept for a limited period.
- Sent to AI providers to generate her responses — currently Anthropic (Claude). If a lower-cost model is ever used for some tasks, it's routed through a single, named provider we've specifically chosen and pinned — not an unpredictable pool of backend hosts.
- Calendar access goes through Google's own sign-in — Google's own privacy terms cover that connection; we only access what you've granted, and nothing is forwarded elsewhere.
- Phone calls are placed via Twilio; maps via Geoapify. Both only see what's needed for that specific feature.
Google user data specifically
Curio's access to your Google Calendar is used solely to read your schedule and create or update events on your behalf, at your request. This data is not used for advertising, not shared with third parties beyond what's needed to run the specific feature you asked for, and not used to train AI models. You can revoke Curio's access at any time from your Google Account's third-party access settings.
Kids
If a child is part of your household, a parent or guardian registers and consents on their behalf — Curio doesn't collect a child's data independently of that.
Your control
- Delete anytime. Ask, and your household's data — including backups — is removed. This is a real, complete process today, even while it's not yet a fully self-serve button.
- Remove face data anytime, independent of anything else.
- Questions or a deletion request: privacy@curio.care.
